Whether you like the ruling or not, you have to feel some small pang of sympathy for Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly. The luck of the draw just wasn’t on her side in this case.

According to The Nando Times, she’d recently purchased stock in Sun and other Microsoft-rival companies when she “won” the lottery to hear the case. According to ethics rules, she was required to divest herself of those stocks on taking the case. In nearly all cases the value of the stock had dropped significantly since her purchase. She apparently took quite a loss.

The reverse lottery … quite a concept.
