Strange Spam
December 20th, 2002 | by Tony Steidler-Dennison |I’m using SpamAssassin now on my machine to kill the crap that floats thorough from marketers. It seems to be very accurate, with very few false positives. Everything gets filtered into the caughtspam directory in my mail system, where I can review it.
Some of this stuff is just downright strange. Here are just some of the subject lines in the caughtspam directory:
- FREAKY WEIRD SEX CRAP
- ANAL ASSAULT! ~~Free Access To Nasty Kink!~~
- Naked Dwarf Tossing
- You + SexAffair = Sex Now!!!!
- FARM GIRLS!
- tony extend your youthfulness [sorry, too late]
- No More Constipation
Freaks of the world unite. There’s a spam company somewhere that needs your mind.

I used to use those ’spam filters’ too. Then it occured to me:
I AM REVIEWING THE SPAM IN A SPAM FOLDER TAKINGA AS MUCH TIME AS IF IT CAME IN MY INBOX!! ARRGGGG!!
The truth is, if you use email for business there is no getting around having to filter through spam. Although it *IS* faster to filter through it in it’s own folder…

I hate spam too, but you’re right. Just set your filters or get one of those services that make a real human work the email.

What is sad is that you cant even communicate anymore without having to worry about spam harvesters coming along and picking up your email address!
