Wayward Wireless
January 4th, 2003 | by Tony Steidler-Dennison | 1 viewsI do love wireless.
I don’t own a laptop, but I really don’t need one with the Zaurus. 802.11 throughout the house and the Linksys wireless card in the Z is all I need. Blog entries from the easy chair are simply too cool.
As forward as Iowa City is, though, I haven’t found much in the way of public wifi. A few weeks ago, I suggested moving a work meeting to a local coffeeshop for a change of scenery. I only wanted wireless access so I could put my notes directly on the machine at work. No luck. In fact, as I called around to the local coffeehouses, two people actually laughed in response to the question of whether they had wireless access. We kept the meeting in the office. Hopefully, Iowa City will catch the wireless wave soon.

I work in downtown Charlotte, NC and I found that there is a little coffee shop downstairs that has free Wifi! (No not Starbucks, but a Caribou Coffee) Now I can have my Caffine and be productive too…
