Weary

March 21st, 2003 | by Tony Steidler-Dennison |

I’m already starting to feel a bit of war-weariness, what with the wall-to-wall coverage on the TV, NPR, ‘Net, and newspapers. I’m compelled to keep the coverage on, but it’s at a cost. I didn’t sleep well last night and, as you can see, am late again this evening. Yesterday seemed to grind by unusually slowly. I was tense at work and lacked any focus at all.

I wondered today if this is really just the cumulative effect of at least a half-dozen military confilcts, large and small, in my lifetime. Vietnam through Gulf II and everything in between. While those who lived through World Wars I and II certainly faced bigger problems, I can’t think of the last time anyone of my relatively young age has seem their country involved in more conflict in terms of numbers. Nor were they covered so thoroughly and so immediately.

At this rate, I’ll hit the saturation level of September 11 in another day or two.

*sigh*…I know…me too…tried to tweak the penguin a little and messed up…need to do a clean install in what seems like a dirty world…seems like everthing is broken…amazing how one never gives up when the flame of goodness still burns in the heart…always with hope and continuing the endeavor of creating a better world, one heart at a time… no matter what…
