Near uptime

uptime is, well, up. Let’s call it a beta for now. After the push and shove of the past week or so, I collapsed on the couch last night when I should have been rebuilding templates. There are still some holes in uptime, but they’ll be filled in the next few days.

You’ll find another face on the site, as well. Frequent Penguin Shell commenter and contributor Frank Merenda will be sharing some of the writing duties. Frank’s a Java developer working full-time in Linux. He’s got tons of useful information to pass along. In fact, at this moment, his entries outnumber mine 2:1.

We’ll be filling in content over the next few days. In general, the sections on the site will change weekly, with updates to individual sections changing nightly. That will mean new content every day. Aside from rebuilding templates, working out the bugs and writing content, I’m also looking into delivering uptime via a text-only weekly newsletter.

This sure does feel like “hitting the ground running.”

    Do you have an offical place to report cosmetic problems in certain browser/os/res combos?

    Tony probly remembers i have an odd one that doesn’t like to render anything right.. IE5 at 800×600..

    I’m aware of this one and working on it. Everything looks good in IE6+ but not in anything prior to that.

    Any gurus out there with some experience to offer?

    And in case anyone is wondering, i don’t use IE5 (or 800×600) by choice.. it’s a work machine.. i do spend 8 hours a day on it though.. :(

    OH MAN, that stinks!!!!
    I’m really sorry you have to put up with that!

    …not to mention IE 5.5 :)
    I would go nuts if it weren’t for the tabbed browsing in mozilla. I’ve gotten totally addicted to it.
