The 2005 MLB Season

October 20th, 2005 | by Tony Steidler-Dennison |

It started in the cool of April and ended in the cool of October. The Houston Astros and Chicago White Sox will play in the World Series, but for Cardinals fans like myself, the season is over.

Yahoo! Sports: Oswalt launches Astros into World Series.

The Houston Astros made it to their first World Series after 44 seasons, owing it all to Roy Oswalt, who took his team’s hopes, dreams and gritty resolve and pitched them past the St. Louis Cardinals 5-1 Wednesday night.

So, how’d I do?

Division Winners: 3 of 4 - .750
Wild Cards: 1 of 2 - .500
LDS: 2 of 4 - .500
LCS: 0 of 2 - .000
World Series: 0 of 2: .000

Total: 6 of 14 - .429

Not so well.

Albert Pujols will win the National League MVP. Chris Carpenter will win the National League Cy Young Award. Phil Garner just might win the National League Manager of the Year. He certainly deserves it.

And the Astros deserve the trip to the Series. Well-played and good luck.
