More Minimalism

June 4th, 2006 | by Tony Steidler-Dennison | 1 views

I found this great WordPress theme this morning. I was digging around trying to find some inspiration to carry on with the blog. While I suppose real inspiration probably isn’t derived from the look and feel of a site, the new minimalist theme has sparked my interest again. Unlike my recent posting patterns, less really is more when it comes to blogs.

I’m a big fan of the simple look. Obviously, my site is still the generic, black and white, default that shipped with MT years ago.

One thing I noticed looking at your site on my laptop (Ubuntu Dapper, Firefox 1.5.0.3) is that the dates in the calendar in the top left “bleed” past the gray divider line into your Categories.

Let me know if you’d like me to send a screenshot.

Let me know if you’re still seeing the overlap, Erik. I made a change to the sidebar file.

I’m still seeing the same problem. You want me to email you a screenshot?

I saw it earlier when I was playing with the fonts. I’m at 1024×768 on the laptop (max res) and it looks alright. Let me play with it a bit more.

It looks like the problem is that the calendar is a static width. So, it stays the same width regardless of the browser size. I’ll look at the plugin code tomorrow.

The site has a “Clean” look to it. I like it.

As soon as I saw the theme, I knew it was the right one. I made some small tweaks, but nothing susbstantial, really. Still a few to make, too, but I think this is it for awhile.
