June 5 and 6, 1968
June 6th, 2006 | by Tony Steidler-Dennison |Two dark days in US history that continued an horrific year for public figures. Late in the evening on June 5, 1968, Robert Kennedy was shot at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles. He died of his wounds June 6. Following the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr. by just two months, Kennedy’s assassination sent the country reeling. I was 7 years old at the time, and remember the news of both assassinations pretty clearly. I especially remember the televised funeral of Bobby Kennedy - it was the first I’d see on television.
Here’s the official record of the investigation of Kennedy’s assassination. Here’s the Wikipedia entry.
