Continuing Fraud and Waste

June 14th, 2006 | by Tony Steidler-Dennison |

Following right along with a government that seems to follow no standard practices:

USATODAY.com - FEMA lost $1B to fraud, errors

Millions more was sent to more than 1,000 people who used names and Social Security numbers of inmates in prisons along the Gulf Coast and across the country. In one case, FEMA sent $4,358 to a Mississippi prisoner who gave officials his correct mailing address — at the prison where he’d been locked up since 2004.

The problem here is that these agencies seem to see this money as someone else’s. They don’t bother to put in place the same practices they’d implement for their personal finances.

That’s been the problem with government and money for the last 60 years or more. That is a good case for getting the government out of many areas where they are involved.

That’s what I’d hoped would happen when the Republicans took over, but I have been sorely disappointed. Maybe it is time for some 3rd party candidates to win some elections.
