On This Day

Four years ago today, I wrote the following on CodeMode:

Smaller and Better Yet

Handspring has released the newest Treo Communicator. These devices just get cooler every day. I looked hard at the low-end Treo a month ago, but it was only a half-hearted look. I’d pretty much already decided on the Zaurus.

God-code

How Murray avoided spending his prime years in Hongcouver writing government-standard code for the Ministry of Unbelievable Dullness. A great short by Cory Doctorow.

Coursey’s a Schmuck

A WinPuppet of the higest order and about a week late on the Janis Ian story. I unsubscribed from Anchor Desk at the apex of Dave’s waxing rhapsodic about XP. He’s been all over the map on file-swapping, though this article would make us all believe that his opinions have been in line with Ian’s all along. Man, where’s Jesse Berst when you need him?

Another Transition

I took a position today with a local law firm, returning to the area in which I have the most training and practical experience. Undoubtedly, there will be some adjusting to do, a mixture of good and bad. An 8-5 sure will be nice. A schedule like that actually leaves me some room to structure both my days and evenings. Penguin Shell should stay on the steady track it’s been on for the past few weeks. And, of course, a regular paycheck - the lack of which is the very thing that’s finally chased me from the tech market.

That was the first day of this iteration of The CodeMode Chronicles. Though I’d been “journaling” online for years at that point (since 1997), this was the first foray into the wild world of “blogging.” It’s been fun, and that day-one lineup of posts sure painted a picture of things to come.
