Romomentum

My Cowboys won again today, with another impressive performance from Tony Romo. Somewhere in the tryptophan fog, I managed to watch all but the last few minutes of the game. I kept thinking about how vindicated Bill Parcells must feel, given that Jerry Jones was less than enthusiastic about replacing Drew Bledsoe. Romo’s performance was pretty stunning, even against the Buccaneers.
Truth is, I say “my Cowboys” like I’m a huge football fan. I’m not. Even though I’ve followed the Cowboys since Roger Staubach’s rookie season, the NFL is just a way to pass the months between the World Series and the start of spring training. George Carlin’s riff on baseball and football is spot-on, in my book. For me, it’s hard to be a big fan of both.
